Featured Artist at Wine and Art Show in West Linn

We've been invited to participate in Wine and Art Wednesdays at Spoiled Rotten in West Linn. Yours truly is the featured artist for August, and my work will be on display throughout the month. Spoiled Rotten is an adorable boutique with lots of fabulous fun and finery for your baby and child. It is located at:

You can see some of our most popular items on display, such as our fine art canvas gallery wraps, premier session boxes, and framed storyboards.  The actual event takes place every Wednesday from 5-7pm; Shannon and I will be there at least one Wednesday this month. I'm told there are wine and juice boxes, so, come on by and see us!

Lifestyle Newborn Photography in Portland

Beautiful mommy, strong and attentive daddy, lovely home, adorable baby...doesn't get much better than this. It's been a crazy summer, but I wanted to drop in to share a quick sneak peek.

Being a mother gives me a perspective that only other moms can appreciate.  Giving birth is difficult, it's painful, it's a lot of work. They don't call it "labor" for nothing.  But it really is a labor of love. The end result is so incredible and so worth every moment. As a photographer and mom, there is just something about this image that speaks to me...I absolutely love this portrait.

As much as I love capturing the relationships, when you get right down to it, it's all about the baby :) Newborn photography is so rewarding, and I feel so honored when people trust me with this amazing time in their lives. Welcome to the world, little one!

Last clues...

Well, our vacation is coming to an end...why does it always seem to go by so quickly? While we've been here,some or all of my family have done the following: scuba diving, snorkeling, beach combing, sunburning (err...sun*bathing*), train ride tour of a plantation (one of my son's favorite activities here), swimming in the resort pools as well as in the ocean, spa, shopping, kayaking, sightseeing, walking, playing tennis (not sure you can call it that when it was my son and I playing LOL!), boogie boarding, luau, ummm...seems like there were a few other things. It's been a full couple of weeks!

Tonight my husband and I went out for a romantic dinner at La Cascata to celebrate our anniversary, which was actually last week.  The nice thing about traveling with grandparents - built-in babysitting :)  It was such a beautiful view and a very relaxed dinner - something virtually unheard of when you become a parent. LOL!  I haven't actually *just relaxed* much, and I've decided that I'll need a vacation from my vacation. But it's been a great time for all of us!

Thought I'd post the closest I've come to any kind of portrait in the past couple of weeks...

I spoke with Shannon today (isn't she the best?! she takes such good care of us!), and I know we've got at least one newborn scheduled for next week. I am so relieved that no one went into labor early...we tried to schedule around my trip, but sometimes babies have their own plans...but it looks like everyone has cooperated so far ;) Hope everyone is having a great summer!

Where's Michelle?

Between finalizing the move out of the studio, getting ready for summer, and the wonderful craziness of life in general, I have been too busy to keep up with the blog. For the past week I've been on a much-needed family vacation. So, the question of the week is....where am I?  I thought it would be fun to have a little contest.

A few days ago my son was feeling a little overwhelmed with being away from home and our normal routine, so I offered to take him for one of our favorite outings - to the bookstore and Starbucks. He sadly said "but that's only in Portland". These days, Starbucks are everywhere! So, the first person to guess correctly wins a $15 Starbucks gift card. I'll try to post at least a couple clues this week...but remember - I AM on vacation, so getting on the computer is not the first thing on my to-do list ;)  Post your guesses as a comment to this post. Congratulations to our newest Fresh Face(s)!

Thought I'd take a break from my very busy Saturday to post the results of our Fresh Faces contest. It was a really close race, and it's no wonder - we had some adorable kiddos entered! CONGRATULATIONS to #8 - our grand prize winner of a free portrait session and 11x14 portrait. Isn't she just a doll?

Because it was such a close race throughout the past week, we think it's only fair to award our second place finalist as well - congrats to #9, who will also receive a complimentary portrait session and 11x14 portrait!  Look at those eyes and that sweet face. Congrats to both families, and I look forward to photographing your children. We will be in touch to arrange for your portrait sessions to take place later this summer.

It's always such an honor to be selected to capture this special time in a couple's life, and I really love creating maternity portraits. This mom-to-be positively glowed, and I'm so excited to meet their little one!

I'm so glad I didn't have to be part of that process, because I never could have chosen! We had a lot of very cute entries. Just wanted to update everyone on our Fresh Faces contest.  The deadline to enter has passed, and we are are no longer accepting submissions to the contest.
